Eastvalley opened its doors in the fall of 1960. The school building wasn’t even completed when Principal L.M. Scheff greeted the first students.
Eastvalley originally taught 1st through 8th grades, had 14 teachers and 504 students.
At the time, children could attend any school in Cobb County merely by paying tuition and Eastvalley’s students came from all other areas to test the quality of education at the new school. They had to bring their own lunches, as there was no cafeteria. Eastvalley also did not have a library, a playground and lacked basic necessities like enough desks and books.
Today, Eastvalley is 50 years old. We have over 80 certified teachers, with 30 homeroom teachers teaching grades K through 5. With more than 620 students last year, and most coming from within our district lines, Eastvalley has become a permanent fixture of our community, educating our children and adding value to our lives. We have a playground and a media center, yet we still struggle to obtain newer and greater resources and technologies to provide the very best educational experience for the children.
Our children are our future and Eastvalley depends on our parents and community to help the school in providing the best possible education for all the kids. Enter our site to see stories and pictures that span the decades of education at Eastvalley Elementary School.
